Greg & Cameron Donnely stepped off the
Jewel of the Seas cruise ship in Grenada and went a fishing.. they
had a great day with Cameron releasing an estimated 120 lb blue
marlin and then Greg had a short high pressure fight with a 114 lb
yellowfin tuna that he beat on 80 lb test in 10 mniutes flat.. we
also lost a sailfish ( which spat the hook as did another small
marlin (1 for 2 on marlin, 0 for 2 on sails, 1 for 1 on tuna)
what a way to say goodbye to 2016!! |

Sam McVea went out today - we saw loads of
tunas with porpoise but only had one bite which did not hook up. We
ventured a little further out and tagged this 45lb sailfish. Then we
went closer to shore and found the tunas again - Sam beat a 94lb
yellowfin in 10 minutes on 80 lb.. |

tuna in 30 minutes on 80 lb test. Seas roughed up after this so we
headed in.. |

Sharon Bowditch and other officers off
the Aurora cruise ship ventured out this afternoon.. Sharon was
first up with this pretty little 50 lb blue marlin which we tagged
and released. We worked birds and porpoises and
eventually saw some yellowfin jumping, the birds stopped working but
when we went by this 115 lb tuna took 3 attempts to engulf a bait
and then fought for 50 minutes before we could boated. The officers
mess on the Aurora will be eating fresh sashimi and sushi tonight!! |

Great trip today organised by Sarah
Chapman saw us go 3 for 3 on sailfish and then finish up with a 133
lb yellowfin tuna!

Sandals La Source clients had an epic battle with this 119 lb
yellowfin tuna - it just would not quit on 50 lb test and took 3
hours to drag into the boat... we were very late back to the dock |

Dave Brown returned to Grenada and had some fun this morning.. First up was a 100 lb yellowfin tuna -
Dave's first of that species - but after half an hour on 80 he decided first was also last for nthis day so we went after lighter
action and for once the fish co-operated with the plan.. he caught our smallest ever sailfish (looks big in the pic but note the tiny
4" rapala in its jaw!) at about 8lb - we didnt tag it fearing the tag was not proportionate to the fish' body. The rapala was attached
to Dave's Shimano spinning outfit holding 300m of 15lb line.. |

130 lb blue marlin release for Stan Cuthbertson who said he had been trying to catch one for 30 years! |

this exact 100 lb yellowfin tuna after if took a short bait as a blind strike...
This afternoon Jodi Wood also
staying at Sandals, was the lucky angler who beat this 130 lb tuna in about an hour on 50lb test - she was lucky because the
leader broke a second before the captain sank the gaff... how many times have we seen the (sadder) reverse of that situation!! |

in the boat whilst Grace's 100+ tuna chomped through the mono leader at boat side & escaped... still a good trip though |

Whilst Andy was fighting a sailfish he had hooked, a group of dorado came around the boat - we hooked four whilst releasing the sailfish and he got them all to the boat but one escaped.
We had previously caught one to finish with 4 in total - good fun and several other tricky sailfish bites went a begging.. |
